Every society has its beliefs and doctrines, and it is the responsibility of anyone desiring to join the society to be well informed of these before making a commitment to join. The basic doctrines of CEM, which are universal to any true Christian Church, are as follows:
Membership: Every member of CEM is an automatic member of the universal Christian Church (1 Corinthians 10: 31 – 33)
The Trinity: CEM believes that there is only one Supreme God with different personalities as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, but is the selfsame God.
Jesus Christ: CEM believes that there is salvation in no other name than Jesus Christ who every believer must accept as personal Lord and Saviour (Acts 4: 10 – 12, John 1: 12)
The Holy Spirit: CEM believes in the personality of the Holy Spirit and His presence with us here on earth (John 14: 16-17), His works in the believer (John 16: 13: 14 : 26) and the world (John 16 : 8-11).
The Bible: The Church believes in the whole Bible as the written word of God and it is the basis for doctrine, teaching and for the setting of standards (2 Timothy 3: 16-17; 2 Peter 1: 20-21).
Baptism: We believe in baptism by immersion, and that every member of the church must be born again, be baptised by immersion in water, be baptised in the Holy Spirit, and must live a spirit filled and controlled life (John 3: 3-7; Matthew 28: 19-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:14)
Salvation: CEM believes in the doctrine of the three phases of salvation: namely, we have been saved, we are being saved and we shall be saved. (Ephesians 2 : 8-9; Philippians 2 : 12; 1 Peter 4 : 17; Matthew 24 : 22).
Spiritual Gifts: CEM believes in the gifts and the manifestations of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12 : 1 – 11, 28 – 31).
Divine Healing: CEM believes in prayer for the sick and divine healing (Exodus 15 : 26, James 5 : 14, 15).
The Second Coming: The church believes in the second coming of Jesus Christ to the planet earth first to redeem those who have believed in him and secondly to judge the whole world. (Matthew 25 : 32 – 46, 1 Thess 4 : 14 – 18).
Life after Death: The church believes in life after death and that the ultimate destination of every soul is either heaven or hell depending on one’s relationship with the Lord Jesus (Matthew 7 : 21, Luke 16 : 19 – 31).
Judgement Day: The Church believes that the Lord Jesus Christ when he comes shall reward everyone according to his deeds whether they are good or evil (Eccl 12 : 12 – 14, Matthew 16 : 17, 1 Peter 1 : 17).
